I am Not Worried About the Google Algorithm Change

It’s been a while since I posted here, but I’ve been busy and haven’t had many chances to write. So all the Internet Marketer chatter lately is how everyone is so upset about Google changing the way they rank websites. My take on this may be a little different than all of those out there complaining and acting like Google came to their house and robbed them.

First off – I want to say that I believe Google has the right to do whatever it wants as a business, and they don’t owe anyone anything. Just because they are the top dog doesn’t mean they should have to follow any special set of rules derived just for them. Everyone complaining and acting like a victim needs to STFU. I don’t feel bad for you because you crappy auto-blog lost its first page ranking. The fact is Google’s users are tired of doing searches and being bombarded with auto-blogs, copied websites, and all the other junk that makes finding good information so difficult.

Secondly many internet marketers have had it to easy and abused the internet, and I will be happy to see that a thing of the past. I am talking about all of you people that have poorly designed sites that are full of ads and offer no value to the internet. Just because you can pay to have someone in India get you 100,000 backlinks don’t mean you should be on the first page of Google. Content is what matters and from my understanding that is what Google is aiming to promote and rank.

I have been testing the waters of building niche websites, and since day one I have had reservation about just adding more junk to the internet. Instead I focus on providing quality content and making sure that when I get that coveted first page ranking my visitors first reaction won’t be one of annoyance.
Okay, so that is my official stance on the Google algorithm change, but I do have some concerns. I read that Google is going to make it more difficult for new sites to move up quickly in the rankings. This bothers me for a number of reasons, but mostly because it means that I will have to wait longer to see good results. No one knows for sure if this is true, but I am currently testing this out with a new niche site I launched last week. If it takes longer than 3 months to get in the top 20 then I will know that this rumor is true.

I also read that Google may be ranking websites based on the number of pages they have. I think that is plain stupid, because you can easily produce 1000 pages of junk. Some of the most valuable sites out there have 10 pages or less. Furthermore I wonder what that means to product sites and sales landing pages, my sales pages typically have less than 5 pages.

No one outside of Google knows for sure what is going to be affected or how the whole thing works. So I am thinking a lot of this initial hype and worry may just be auto-bloggers and slimy internet marketers feeling guilty for filling the internet full of their junk!
